Could New Research Help Improve Treatment for Year-Round Allergies?

Advanced ENT & Allergy is participating in a clinical research study evaluating lebrikizumab in adults and adolescents with perennial allergic rhinitis, also known as year-round allergies.

The study, called PREPARED-2, is sponsored by Eli Lilly and Company, with Kali Gerace, M.D. serving as the Primary Investigator.

What Is Perennial Allergic Rhinitis?

Perennial allergic rhinitis is a type of nasal allergy that can cause symptoms throughout the year. Unlike seasonal allergies, which are typically triggered by pollen during certain times of the year, perennial allergic rhinitis can be triggered by allergens found indoors, such as dust mites, pet dander, or mold.

Common symptoms can include:

  • Nasal congestion or stuffiness
  • Runny nose
  • Sneezing
  • Itchy nose or throat
  • Postnasal drainage
  • Watery or itchy eyes

For some people, these symptoms can affect sleep, daily activities, school, work, and overall quality of life.

About the PREPARED-2 Clinical Study

The PREPARED-2 study is designed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of lebrikizumab in adult and adolescent participants with perennial allergic rhinitis.

Lebrikizumab is a monoclonal antibody that targets interleukin-13 (IL-13), a signaling protein involved in allergic inflammation. Lilly is studying lebrikizumab as a potential treatment for allergic rhinitis triggered by perennial allergens.

The purpose of a clinical study is to collect information about how a study medication works and its safety in people with a specific condition. Participation does not guarantee that the study medication will improve symptoms.

What Does Participation Involve?

People who participate in the PREPARED-2 study will have study visits and assessments throughout the research period.

The study team will explain what is involved, including the schedule of visits, examinations, questionnaires, and any other study procedures. Participants will also receive information about the study medication, potential risks and benefits, and what to expect before deciding whether to participate.

Your study team can answer questions about the full schedule and what participation would involve for you or your child.

Who May Qualify?

The PREPARED-2 study is for adults and adolescents with perennial allergic rhinitis.

Clinical studies have specific eligibility requirements, which may include factors related to age, medical history, allergy symptoms, and previous or current treatments.

Not everyone who is interested will qualify. The study team will review the eligibility requirements with you and determine whether you may be able to participate.
