Why does my dosing schedule change when I receive new vials?

Each set of vials comes with its own dosing instructions. As your treatment progresses, the strength of your serum may increase. Because of this, you will often need to restart at a lower dose, even if you were taking a higher dose from your previous vial. Always follow the dosing sheet included in your current shipment.

I was taking 0.50 cc (or 1.00 cc). Why am I starting back at 0.05 cc or 0.10 cc?

New vials are often stronger than your previous vials. Starting at a lower dose allows your body to adjust safely to the increased strength. Do not continue your previous dose unless your dosing sheet specifically instructs you to do so.

What is the highest dose I should take?

For 5 cc vials, do not exceed 0.50 cc. For 10 cc vials, do not exceed 1.00 cc. Always follow the dosing instructions provided with your serum.

What should I do if I miss an injection?

Refer to the "Timeframe Since Last Injection" chart located on the back of your dosing sheet. Depending on how long it has been since your last injection, your dose may need to be adjusted. If you are unsure, contact our office before giving your next injection.

When should I reorder my serum?

Please reorder only when indicated on your dosing sheet. Reordering too early can result in repeat vials being mixed, cause insurance claim denials, and delay your treatment progression. Patients should generally reach 0.40 cc (5 cc vials) or 0.80 cc (10 cc vials) before advancing to the next strength. All serum orders must be placed through our website, by fax (812-670-2170), or in person at our office. We cannot accept serum orders over the phone or through Klara.

Does my serum expire even if I don't use it every week?

Yes. Serum expiration is based on the mixing date, not how often injections are given. Dilution vials typically expire after 4 months, and maintenance vials typically expire after 6 months. Do not use expired serum and reference the expiration date listed on your vials and injection paper.

Why does my serum look different than my last set of vials?

As your treatment progresses, your serum becomes stronger and contains less diluent. This may cause the serum to appear yellow, tan, or light brown. This color change is normal and does not mean there is a problem with your serum.

Where should I give my allergy injection?

If you are administering your own injections, they should be given in the thigh. If another person is administering your injections, they must attend your injection training appointment. Injections given by another person should be administered in the back of the upper arm.

Should I alternate injection sites?

Yes, alternating injection sites is recommended. For example, use the left thigh one week and the right thigh the following week. Alternating sites may help reduce irritation, although it is not required.

What reactions are normal, and what should I report?

Mild itching, redness, and soreness are common and expected. Please notify our office if you experience swelling and redness larger than a quarter or reactions lasting longer than 2–3 days.

Can I continue taking allergy medications while receiving allergy injections?

Yes. You may continue taking your allergy medications and antihistamines while receiving allergy injections. Many patients use antihistamines on injection days to reduce reactions.

What happens if I have a balance on my account?

Serum cannot be mixed if there is an outstanding balance greater than $20.00. If your balance exceeds $20, your serum order will be placed on hold until the balance is paid.

Does my serum have to stay refrigerated during shipping?

Serum is safe during shipping and does not require refrigeration in transit. However, it should not be exposed to extreme heat or freezing. Store in the refrigerator upon receipt.
